Picture books are most often aimed at young children, and may help children develop their visualizing skills, most are written with vocabulary a child can understand easily. For this reason, picture books tend to have two functions in the lives of children, diversity and creative. The purposes of this paper are firstly to grasp the visual elements provided by some cases of picture book covers, and secondly, to examine what kind of editing characteristics such elements play and what role they plays in the layout. The samples are of nine picture book covers produced from 2017 to 2018. Therefore, the researcher analyzed these nine data of picture books of which were images(attention, legibility, clarity, figurativity, creativity), typographies (Ming-style font, gothic style and free style; vertical structure and the horizontal), colors(warm color and cold color, chromatic and achromatic color) and layout(title and characters's composition, constituted as expression in the books and divided photos and illustrations, figurative and non-figurative images as technical one. In the analysis results, not only did the characters appear in the images provided by cases, but it is also seen that the illustration is frequently used. The free style typography is guaranteed for being familiar with young readers, and the warm color also played a role in transmitting visually familiar information besides images. It is found that these picture book interpretations, provided by some important cases, serve as a bridge between the young readers and the creators, it will eliminate the blind spots of producers' oriented picture book that cannot be provided in the dimension of readers' market sector, and prevent the loss of attractive power from the beginning with book cover.
